Nearsightedness (Myopia) Is More Than Just Blurry Vision
In my practice, I see more myopic kids every year — and the prescriptions are getting stronger, faster. That's not just an inconvenience. High myopia significantly increases the lifetime risk of retinal detachment, glaucoma, and macular degeneration. The goal of myopia management isn't just clearer vision today — it's protecting your child's eye health for the next 50 years.
We serve families from Fayetteville, Fort Bragg, Hope Mills, Spring Lake, and Cumberland County. TRICARE is accepted for most myopia management services.
sleepSEE® Myopia Control
sleepSEE® is our branded orthokeratology program — custom-designed overnight lenses that gently reshape the cornea while your child sleeps, so they wake up with clear vision and no glasses or contacts needed during the day. It's the most popular myopia control option in my practice.
Myopia Management Program
Myopia management goes beyond correcting blurry vision — it's about slowing the progression of nearsightedness before it causes serious long-term eye health risks. Our program combines Ortho-K, atropine therapy, and lifestyle counseling for a comprehensive approach.
Myopia Progression Tracking
We track your child's axial length and refractive error over time using advanced biometry. Knowing the rate of progression helps us choose the right treatment and adjust it as your child grows. If your child's prescription is changing every year, this is where we start.
Candidate Screener
Not sure if your child is a good candidate for Ortho-K or myopia management? Our online screener takes about 3 minutes and gives you a personalized recommendation based on your child's age, prescription, and lifestyle. No appointment needed.
Myopia Risk Screener
Does your child have risk factors for developing myopia — or for rapid progression? Our risk screener evaluates family history, screen time, outdoor activity, and current prescription to estimate their risk level and suggest next steps.
Why Starting Early Matters
The Earlier, the Better
Myopia management is most effective when started between ages 6 and 12, when the eye is still growing. Waiting until the prescription stabilizes means missing the window when treatment has the greatest impact.
Proven to Slow Progression
Ortho-K and low-dose atropine have been shown in peer-reviewed studies to reduce myopia progression by 40–60%. That can mean the difference between a -3.00 prescription and a -6.00 prescription by adulthood.
TRICARE Accepted
We accept TRICARE Prime and TRICARE Select for myopia management consultations and many treatment services, making advanced care accessible for military families at Fort Bragg.
Free Screening Tools
Not sure where to start? Our online Candidate Screener and Myopia Risk Screener take less than 5 minutes and give you a personalized recommendation — no appointment required.
